Starting in the early 14th century, the garment of choice for men was a cotehardie. A snug outer garment, the cotehardie usually had tight sleeves. Buttons for fastening clothing also became widespread in the 14th century, so it is no coincidence that our Cotehardie with Removable Sleeves fastens down the front with a row of imposing golden buttons.
Cut to fit snugly at the chest and flare out at the hips, it is made of black damask in a classic lozenge pattern shot with golden crosses. The rounded neckline is high. The arm holes and sleeve tops are edged with metal eyelets so you can wear this cotehardie with or without sleeves, as required. Damask with golden buttons: a cotehardie fit for a king!
