We intended this coat as an illustration for the Grimms' fairy tales - slightly romantic and enchanting and at this time impressive and realistic. The woolen slim fit coat has a descending silhouette: in front its length reaches the knee while the rear goes almost to the ankle.
The coat is tight in the bust and in the waist but rapidly widens at the hips level. Its silhouette refers simultaneously to two historical prototypes - gothic dresses of the late middle ages and bouffant skirts of the baroque. The medieval theme traces in the tight fit bodice with the low waistline, in the long fabulously narrow fake sleeves, in the leaf-shaped turn-back of the short upper sleeve, in the tiny engraved metal buttoning with loop buttonholes and in the stylistics of the embroidery and applique pattern. At the same time the full skirt gathered at the hips associates with the dresses from the illustrated fairy tales - that is baroque or even rococo. Besides both prominence and wealth the pattern is typical for the costumes of the later period.
Hood is not included but available in our store. Skirt shown with coat is not available.
Please note that dark blue wool has a very dark shade, that may appear black under electric light indoors, and grey wool that is available at the moment, is a bit darker than pictured.
